AIPAC on Campus

How to get started

• For a cadre, contact the Leadership Development field organizer covering your region
• For an internship, apply through apply.aipacldevents.org with a resume, a cover letter, a letter of recommendation, and proof of academic credit
• For a lobbying appointment, speak to Leadership Development staff first, identify your representative at house.gov, and request the unbranded materials with the specific legislative asks
• For an event, AIPAC asks you to set the goal with your cadre, set a budget and raise the funds yourselves, and book the speaker at least 3 weeks out

After the event — what you owe them

• The campus liaison submits weekly reports to AIPAC Leadership Development staff
• After a lobbying appointment: send a thank-you note promptly, write to the member on issues of concern, and keep the relationship alive with volunteer work and campus updates
• Cadres are expected to carry all three AIPAC on Campus initiatives — Candidates, Congress, and Community — through the year

Who can use it

• There is nothing to qualify for financially — AIPAC on Campus does not award grants
• Any campus can build a cadre; AIPAC expects the board structure to be adapted to what works locally
• Semester interns must commit 15 to 25 hours a week and be able to be in the Washington, DC office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays
• The Executive Cabinet and Women's Leadership Council are selective, drawn from AIPAC's most active student activists

What they offer

• ProgramCampus cadre A campus board with a defined structure — President (campus liaison), Senior Advisor, Political Director, Legislative Director, Communications Director, Engagement Director, and Community Relations Coordinator. The liaison reports weekly to AIPAC Leadership Development staff. AIPAC says to adapt the structure to what works on your campus.
• ProgramWashington, DC trainings and summits In-person: the Campaign Training Institute, the Student Leadership Summit, and the AIPAC Congressional Summit.
• ProgramPolicy Scholars Education Program A virtual policy education program, the one training track that does not require travel to Washington.
• ProgramFall and Spring Semester Internships Hybrid DC internships across the Political, Policy and Government Affairs, Marketing and Communications, and Leadership Development departments — research, writing, and event planning. 15 to 25 hours a week, in office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, remote Wednesday and Friday. Available for academic credit or a small stipend.
• ProgramDiamond Summer Internship AIPAC's summer internship, applied for through the same Leadership Development opportunities portal.
• ProgramNational student leadership boards The Executive Cabinet and the Women's Leadership Council, for AIPAC's most active student leaders. Both run virtual programming, grassroots campaign mobilization, professional development, and mentorship.
• ResourceLobbying support Leadership Development supplies unbranded materials with specific legislative asks, runs a Lobbying 101 session, and helps set up meetings with a member's district office. AIPAC's rule is that only 3 to 4 cadre members speak in any one appointment.
• ResourceCampus Cadre Resource Guide AIPAC's playbook for running a chapter: the Campus Creed, board role descriptions, goal and schedule planning, professional and social event planning, recruitment through club fairs, coffee meetings, and classroom announcements, and a step-by-step for scheduling a lobbying appointment.

Campuses they list as active

AIPAC on Campus publishes 40 campuses it is active on. Being on the list is not a requirement and being absent is not a rejection — their own page notes it keeps changing. Treat it as a signal that someone nearby already knows them.
